Lets have a game of state the obvious.... its feckin' freezin. Two polar bears this morning at the bus stop daring each other to jump into a puddle and both chickened out. The kids on the night of the first bath were baffled. Aoife could not explain what was wrong or the sensation she was feeling when she came out of the bath... chattering teeth, goose bumps... she was terrified and had no idea what was happening to her. The concept of being cold has now dawned (over and over again). The house is warm and we did manage to burn a record amount of oil in the first month. There is zero ozone directly over the house, but alas it is still cold here. All relative one presumes.

Black pudding, sausages and tayto crisps are staple diet. We had the same on Christmas day we a bit of cranberry sauce to dip the crisps into, so very traditional.

Our container arrived the week before Christmas, so the kids did get their pressies and we were able to decorate the house and got it looking quite well too. Both Oisín and Aoife have a taste for the full Irish breakfast. As a result they are both putting on weight. This combined with the Christmas dinners and granmothers mince pies and cakes has given ourselves a bit to think about for ourselves, I believe a bit of exercise may be called for in the new year as I am creating a tidal pull whilst walking by the all to frequent puddles in the Irish temperate monsoon climate.

Initially the kids health did suffer with colds and flu's, (of course they still do but not quite so frequently). The cleaner ones clothes are, the more they seem to attract the boy with his bar tap nose. Fluorescent shoulders are the norm now, but of course you don't notice that till you are getting off the bus in Cork. Jet lag, then traveling to see family over Christmas, getting them used to each others noises as we lumped them into a room together, to choruses of coughs and splutters and waking each other during the night, led to their parents being a tad on the tired side. Copious amounts of alcohol seem to ensure that we get a good nights sleep, of course, sometimes we even have some ourselves.
